YTU Yıldız Technopark and Emlak Konut GYO signed a protocol to support entrepreneurs developing smart city technologies. Through this collaboration, entrepreneurs will be offered the opportunity to test their innovative solutions in the field, ensuring the direct integration of young talents into sectoral processes.
A current and innovative step that will accelerate university-industry collaboration was taken at the Emlak Konut Key Ideas Summit. YTU Yıldız Technopark signed an entrepreneurship and innovation-focused collaboration protocol with Emlak Konut GYO, one of the umbrella organizations of the construction and real estate ecosystem.
With the protocol signed by YTU Yıldız Technopark General Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammet Garip and Emlak Konut General Manager Yasir Yılmaz, the first step of joining forces between the two institutions was taken in line with the goals of future cities and sectoral digital transformation. The protocol includes supporting startups operating in the fields of smart cities, sustainable urbanism, renewable energy, and digitalization.
In addition to expanding the existing entrepreneurship ecosystem, the partnership also aims to rapidly commercialize research outputs from within YTÜ and introduce them to the core industry.
One of the prominent highlights of the protocol will be the direct field experience offered to startups working in the real estate technologies (PropTech) and construction technologies (ConTech) verticals. With this collaboration, entrepreneurs and companies developing innovative models will have the chance to conduct technical validation—Proof of Concept (PoC)—and pilot applications of their products in Emlak Konut's operational areas. In this way, the product-market fit of both early-stage ideas and companies that have gained growth momentum can be tested with concrete data.
In accordance with the signed protocol, a continuous and dynamic data flow will be established between the startup network within YTÜ Yıldız Technopark and Emlak Konut. Thanks to open innovation calls, acceleration programs, and Demo Day events organized under the coordination of the two institutions, technology producers and sector stakeholders will be able to establish direct contact. In these programs, where academics and technical experts will take part in the application and evaluation processes, startups will be provided with end-to-end mentoring and infrastructure support.
Another fundamental pillar of the memorandum consists of talent development programs centered on students and recent graduates. Joint workshops, ideathons, and hackathons will be organized for YTU students and young entrepreneur candidates who will be included in the process within the framework of the Emlak Konut Young Talent Program. Through this, while accelerating the convergence of academic theory with practice, the aim is to bring well-equipped professionals with innovative perspectives into the sector.
