Moving its presence in the capital of the UK to a new address, YTU Yıldız Technopark also gained the status of International Technology Marketing Office (UTPO) by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Trade with its new office. Attending the office opening, our YTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik emphasized in an exclusive interview with Kanal Avrupa that the office will be a global "base" for Turkish entrepreneurs.
YTU Yıldız Technopark, one of Türkiye's leading institutions in technology exports, has entered a new era in its international structuring. Moving its operations in London to a more central location, Chancery Station House, the Technopark also received UTPO support from the Ministry of Trade, earning the title of being the first center in Europe with this status. The launch held at the new address was attended by the Republic of Türkiye's Ambassador to London, Osman Koray Ertaş; TRNC London Representative Ambassador Aysan Mullahasan Atılgan; YTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik; and TÜBİTAK Vice President Prof. Dr. Mesut Güner. At the event, the companies that will operate within the office were introduced to international participants.
Making exclusive statements to Kanal Avrupa after the launch, YTÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik stated that this office is not just a change of address, but an increase in competence. Prof. Dr. Debik included the following statements in his interview:
"Our purpose is to be able to use the capabilities of our youth, no matter where they are in the world, for the benefit of our country. Our London office will provide 360-degree mentoring to our entrepreneurs here; it will stand by them from accounting to marketing, and from law to investment processes. Thanks to this center, we will witness many Turkish entrepreneurs receiving international investments and expanding globally in the coming years."
Drawing attention to the leading position of YTU Yıldız Technopark in Türkiye (highest volume, highest number of companies and employees), Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik stated that following the Dubai, Amsterdam, and Skopje operations in their overseas strategy, the UTPO status in London will create a multiplier effect: "We are the only university and the only technopark with state-incentivized offices in the international arena. This is a huge door of trust and opportunity for our entrepreneurs. As is known, Yıldız Technical University is one of the most deep-rooted educational institutions in Türkiye and ranks in the top four among state universities. It ranks around the 260s in the world rankings in the field of engineering. Of course, we are not satisfied with this, and we desire to carry our institution even further. We are in the position of being the only university and technopark with state-incentivized offices in the international arena as well."
Explaining how the youth are supported from the idea stage onwards, Prof. Dr. Debik drew attention to the great success achieved by the "Yıldız Kaşifleri" (Star Explorers) pre-incubation program. Reminding that they achieved world and European first places at TEKNOFEST with the 46 teams supported last year, Debik gave the good news that the scope of the program has been expanded:
"We offer full support to our youth in training, equipment, all transportation expenses for international competitions, and commercialization steps. This year, we opened our program to applications from 34 different universities, provided that there is at least one YTÜ student in the team. No matter where you are in the world, as long as you meet this condition, you can benefit from the power of our ecosystem."
Stating that the London office offers a comprehensive vision to entrepreneurs, Prof. Dr. Debik said the following about the Kovan (Hive) project:
"Our goal is to be the architect for entrepreneurs with global dreams. With our Kovan project, we provide 360-degree mentoring to our entrepreneurs at every stage, from accounting to marketing, and from law to investment processes. This structure will directly accelerate many entrepreneurs in receiving international investments and opening up to the world in the coming years."
Within the scope of the event, projects that emerged from within YTU Yıldız Technopark and made a global impact were also featured. Motion Blur, a Turkish gaming company that completely eliminates in-game loading screens with the algorithm it developed and established strategic partnerships with global giants such as Nvidia and Intel, made an exciting presentation of its highly anticipated AAA-quality action game, "Black State."
The project, which took the stage at the world's most prestigious fairs such as CES 2025 and Gamescom, once again demonstrated in London how Turkish game developers got on the radar of global giants with their high engineering skills and its assertive position in the international arena.
The YTU Yıldız Technopark London Office will continue its operations at 1st Floor, 31-33 High Holborn, London WC1V 6AX.
